Accounting services

Annual accounts

Every business needs accounts, even if it is only for the Revenue or the bank manager.  At Numbers (UK) Limited, we believe the accounts can be a useful management tool. By making comparisons to other businesses in the same sector, and to prior years, an owner can get a feel for how well the business is doing, and more importantly, what needs to be improved.

In preparing accounts, the needs of users must be at the forefront of your mind.  Accounting standards still allow a measure of judgement and we approach each assignment on its own merits.  There is no "one size fits all" approach with us.

Tax returns

Every business must file a tax return each year, and this can cause costs to increase without a benefit to clients.  Our integrated software allows us to do things once, and generate all the reports and returns required simply and efficiently.  If changes are made, all the returns are updated at the same time, leaving less room for error, and keeping costs to a minimum.

VAT returns

In many ways, these cause more problems to business owners than the accounts or tax returns.  They are generally due more often and the rules are more complicated.  Getting it wrong also seems to be more expensive.  With our tailored approach, you can minimise the risk of errors, and know that what gets done for the VAT return, will also cut the cost of preparing the annual accounts.

Tax credit claims

We would all want to enjoy tax free income.  Tax credit claims give us an opportunity to do just that.  However, the forms seem complicated and getting it wrong could lose you a substantial income.  As most of the figures come from the tax returns, we are well placed to get this done for you efficiently.  (And the filing deadline for renewal claims is shorter than for the tax return!!)
If you find you haven't got time to claim a tax free income, let us take the strain - it'll pay in the long run.

Insurance and other returns

For many businesses, there are other annual declarations and returns required.  As accountants, we are best placed to provide the information requested.  Most of our clients ask us to complete these at the same time as the accounts.  It saves them time, and gets aonther chore "out of the way" in an efficient and timely manner

Payroll and PAYE

Taking on an employee is a big step. Employment law is developing quickly and can easily catch out the unprepared.  PAYE generally involves a lot of work and the end result is a cheque to pay the Government!!  It can take more time than the amounts justify, distracting you from jobs that actually earn you money.  With a fixed fee for each payrun, giving us the job helps you stay in control of costs, and frees you up to increase your profits.  Our best clients know what and when to delegate - payroll is one they often pass on to us.
By the way, as an e-filer, we can get you the Government e-filing incentive - more tax free money.

Tax investigation fees insurance

Being honest is no defence against a visit from the expanded Revenue and Customs.  In the past, clients have conceded points because they were worried about the fees incurred in fighting the Revenue.  Our scheme offers good value for money, and will cover most of the problems thrown up by a compliance visit or enquiry.  With the insurers paying our fees, you no longer have to say, "I give in" to the Revenue, because you cannot afford to continue the fight.
